Elizabeth moved to stand in an open area that seemed to be open enough to keep watch on all sides.
She shifts her pack on her shoulder more comfortably before turning to give a raised brow to the others.
"Here good for the night?"

Date: 2006-03-24 07:58 pm (UTC)"During the war there were great machines...the Kolder brought great metal crawlers to knock down walls and spit fire I'm told..." she mused quietly.
[And I'm away to work :'(]

Date: 2006-03-24 08:01 pm (UTC)There's a wry smirk from Elizabeth. "Well, cars don't spit fire. Generally, if there's fire on them it means something is wrong with them. Though they're easy enough to use, and safe."
[awww..have fun!]

Date: 2006-03-25 05:04 am (UTC)"Your Cars are not machines of war then...but do they also run on some strange energy? Once the supply lines were cut, it was almost as if the war crawlers starved to death I'm told, freezing and no longer moving..."
no subject
Date: 2006-03-25 05:09 am (UTC)"No, they are not machines of war. They are just machines used to make traveling great distances easier. They run on gas, which is made from oil that is found in the ground in certain places in our world."
no subject
Date: 2006-03-25 05:15 am (UTC)"And there ae many of these machines?" she asked curiously, trying to picture a land where it could be so. It seems rather...impersonal in her mind. Horses did not like her blood, she could watch them from afar, and many sought solace in them...could they do the same for machines?

Date: 2006-03-25 05:21 am (UTC)"Yes, tens of thousands. Most adults own at least one. They come in a varity of styles and colors." She gives a small smile. "Though in the bigger cities, people tend to use public transportation due to lack of space for all the cars that would be needed."
no subject
Date: 2006-03-25 05:32 am (UTC)"Gunnora..." she whispered, eyes going wide. She...wasn't certain of that many people in the Dales, much less ways to move them...the number is almost mind boggling in a social sense. "Why ever would so many live so close together?"
no subject
Date: 2006-03-25 05:48 am (UTC)She gives a small shrug. She knows why lycanthropes lived so close, though it's been to long to be able to explain the regular humans. "The population of the world itself is extraordinary to start with. Plus, people like to live close to their jobs, which means that most live in or close to the city." She's debating on whether it'd be healthy to tell Khemrys that one major city can contain a good two million people.

Date: 2006-03-25 05:52 am (UTC)"It seems fair strange to contemplate, Lady" she admitted quietly. "You must live like so many ants or bees, all one upon the other..."
no subject
Date: 2006-03-25 05:58 am (UTC)There's a faint nod. "In the inner cities during the day especially it can be like that. Though that is why we, the lycanthropes, have the forests that are on the outskirts of the city. They are quite refreshing after a long day in the city."

Date: 2006-03-25 06:12 am (UTC)"I cannot truly imagin living like that...to not step outside into some garden or meadow, instead to face more keeps and holdings with more people..." she shook her head softly. no doubt she'd adapt should such be necessary...but for now, she can't imagine.

Date: 2006-03-25 06:20 am (UTC)"There are gardens. Some people go out of their way to create gardens in their yards outside their houses specifically." She gives a sympathetic smile.

Date: 2006-03-25 06:22 am (UTC)"I imagine they would...everyone needs to simply touch the earth at times..." there ae slow ways to die, that of soul death where that connection to earth simply...wanes and snaps.
no subject
Date: 2006-03-25 06:30 am (UTC)"Even if they do not realize that they need it." Is all Elizabeth says as agreement. Though, Doyle would know more about the soul death, but neither have met him yet.

Date: 2006-03-26 06:42 am (UTC)"Especially then" she noted gently, rising once more and coming to sit beside Eizabeth with the comb.
no subject
Date: 2006-03-26 06:48 am (UTC)She runs a hand through her hair idly before moving so Khemrys has easy access at her hair. "It's hard to find the time some days. Especially with computers being around so that people can do more."
no subject
Date: 2006-03-26 06:51 am (UTC)"A fair shame, when days can be full enough with the simple things" she noted, certainly not knowing what computers are. Such simple things as hair brushing.
no subject
Date: 2006-03-26 07:01 am (UTC)Or such simple things as cooking. "Very true, though computers can be useful as well as distracting. Remind me to show you the one I have in the bar when we get back." She's very happy with her computer, mainly the dvd function of it.
no subject
Date: 2006-03-26 07:08 am (UTC)Indeed, though cooking is often a task that can be set to care for itself slowly...much can be done at the same time. "If you wish" she agreed. "A computer is...like a servant?" Perhaps it's her own cat like tendencies, but her combing is much like petting...
no subject
Date: 2006-03-26 07:19 am (UTC)Unless it's rice, in which, the moment you turn your back on it, it's burnt. "A computer is another machine. It can help people stay in contact even though miles apart, it can store information like recipes or stories, it can play music, and much more. Though it's small and isn't mobile, on it's own. Laptops are smaller than regular computers and can be moved about easily." The petting'combing is comforting to Elizabeth. And, being in a strange place, the comfort is very much welcome. Which is why she had brought up sleeping arrangements to Jason. He caught on fairly well to that.

Date: 2006-03-26 07:24 am (UTC)Unless rice is in soup, then it tends to survive quite well. "Do you not miss books? For such recipes and stories? And instruments for the music? It seems...a fair shame to replace such" she noted idly, setting the comb down and starting to braid portions of her hair. Just for fun now, she'd set the large braid later.

Date: 2006-03-26 07:49 am (UTC)And there are many small braids! Looped about each other carfully. She used to pretend that her mother was still a Lady, playing with her hair and making her beautiful...

Date: 2006-03-26 08:02 am (UTC)Is it wrong that with so many little braids, Elizabeth wants to shake her head just to see how it would feel? Because, yea, that's what she wants to do. Though, she fears that it would destroy some of the work that was done to make them so.
no subject
Date: 2006-03-26 08:07 am (UTC)No, not wrong in the least, though, alas, she has no hair pins, so it would no doubt slip...but it'd just be an excuse to do something else.
