OOM - Camping Out

Elizabeth moved to stand in an open area that seemed to be open enough to keep watch on all sides.

She shifts her pack on her shoulder more comfortably before turning to give a raised brow to the others.

"Here good for the night?"

Elizabeth gives a responding chuckle. "Shouldn't be too hard to convince one of them to go do it should they return empty handed anyway."

She sets her collection next to Khemrys's and gives a grin. "Probably a good thing. He might have joked about asking to join and how it would save time."

"Well, if they tarry too long, it shall be dark, and I would fane have the heart to send them out when the dark is rising..." she noted, glancing at the dusk sky. "I would simply beg a fish come breakfast..."

Once she had a small fire started and was slowly feeding it larger branches she glanced up, cheeks showing the faintest hint of a blush. "Pardon?"

She glances at the sky, watching it a moment. She doesn't remember when the last time was that she just sat as a human in the wild. "That's true."

She sits down near Khemrys, and watches the fire with a small teasing smile. "Jason's a flirt sometimes. Wouldn't put it past him to ask."

Khemrys can remember the last time she shared a fire with a friend. It had been long ago, with Dame Rimia, when herb gathering had taken longer than expected due to the woman's age. An adventure for a bright young girl, and a night of story telling.

"He jests much" she agreed, her own smile softer, andgentler than Elizabeth's "But he still holds to honorable actions no matter his words"

Well, whether she has a memory before, Elizabeth has a nice memory of being outside at a fire now.

There's a small nod from Elizabeth. "He tries to be. He's fairly good at not going over the line, that I've seen. Even if he does tease verbally." Her smile might soften to become closer to Khemrys's than the teasing one it was. She values him as a friend now, which is still a little odd for her. "He has a good heart in him, and that's the most important part."

Perhaps even more tantalizing than the comforts of frienship and fire is the small cloth ball she opens and pours into the water pot. Scents of dried beef and ricj spice, legumes and dried vegetables. A creation of Bars...simmered for a time it should yeild a beautiful soup.

"Aye" she agreed warmly. "You have known him long?"

Elizabeth is watching what is put into the pot with interest. She's a good cook, because the lycanthropes in her world that can't cook are few and far between. It's the high metabolism, and the constant need to eat because if it. But she's never seen anything like that before, nor has she ever cooked over a camp fire.

"My Pard has been intertwined with his Pack since before he became Pack." She tilts his head to the side a moment, going over times. "I want to say a little over two years now."

And she herself has noted an increase in what she eats, so perhaps it's a good thing she at least is used to cooking over flame, as the stoves and ovens of the abbey rely on wood.

"It sounds so srange...to put a limit of years on a person who shifts...here, it's in the blood. You do not become, so much as you wake up I think..." she mused. "But, I could be far wrong in that" she admitted.

"My Lord Jason has only been a shifter for two years then?"

She might notice a bigger increase if she sticks around and eats when Jason and Elizabeth do. They seem to constantly have food around them, especially when together.

There's a faint smile. "In our world it's considered a virus. Only this one can't be cured. You are infected with it or you don't have it." The smile goes dull. "I have yet to see a woman that could carry a child to term as the shift is too harsh on the body to keep with child. And I haven't heard of it passing through the father's side. Though I don't think it's something that can be inherited."

"I'm fairly positive that's close to the right time. Possibly a little more than that but I don't think by much."

Perhaps Elizabeth and Jason together could convince her to eat a bit more then? Get some flesh back on the sinew...or at least keep her healthy. She'd had no shifter to tutor her in such basics...

"That...is a fair shame" she admitted sadly. "Shifting..was a graet gift to me, though it ledto so much danger. I would gladly give it to my own children..." if she ever had any.

Then she clsed her eyes a moment before staring into the flames once more "He bears it well, far better than I, and I've as many years..."

Just being around them will probably lead to that subconsciously. Always being around food, and having the offer of a meal usually leads to eating more. At least that Elizabeth's seen, though she'd gladly convince Khemrys to eat more.

"It would be a wonderful gift to pass onto children. Though with the general un-acceptance of it in my world, I wouldn't want to put a child through that." Elizabeth doesn't have the option anymore, nor has she had it for a long time. At times it gets to her that she won't be able to pass on her genes and name.

"He had an entire Pack of wolves to help him accept how his life has changed. It is no wonder that he bears it well."

Alas, Khemrys was raised in an abbey full of older women. Far older, who's appetites failed them often...so the mere proximity of food isn't as much goad as it could be, traied as she is to eat what they had. Or what she can catch now.

She does watch Elizabeth carefully though as she sets a lid on the small pot and fishes a comb out of her pack "Your world sounds a fair harsh one, Elizabeth" she offered gently, compassion dropping the title from the words. "I can offer fair little to balance such, but you'll always be sister-kin to me should you wish it..."

"Aye, that would do it" she agreed. "I am glad he spends time away from that pack though, for this one..."

"It is more the people that live in it than the world itself." She gives a warm smile. "Thank you Khemrys. I do wish it. There are so few leopards in my world that I considered most family, and I had hoped to include you among them."

She curls her knees up to her and rests her chin on them. "This one is much smaller than the one back home. Plus this pack isn't based much on one's power where as the groups back home have a large dominance hierarchy."

"You have ever been kind to me, from the moment we met, Lady Elizabeth, and I've none to nay-say a call of kinship should I offer..." she admitted with a smile. "It is not much I offer, without home or belongings, but it is yours"

"I...do not believe I would enjoy meeting his home Pack then" she admitted, a hint of sadness in her tone. She had been curious about his family..."I would fane see such unkind to him..."

Elizabeth reaches over and wraps an arm around Khemrys's shoulders. "Family isn't always about the things that we own but more of comfort, safety, and companionship." It only took her about eight months at Milliways to fully understand this.

"The pack isn't all bad. The one main problem to the peace of the pack is long dead, though in the bar all the same." She gives a comforting smile. "It is similar to the workings of a real wolf pack at times, but they are not unkind to their own. Jason is very well taken care of back home."

She leaned tiredly into the arm for a moment before straightening and stretching as best she could in human form "That I believe, Lady elizabeth, that I believe...would you care to join me?" she offered, holding up a small cake of soap and the comb "At least to get the worst of it?"

This is honestly the first she's heard of the dead being in Bar, no one having spoke to her of such before, and perhaps her eyes widen a bit, but it is not as strange as some things perhaps. "That being so...mayhap one day I might beg for a chance to see your own world..."

Elizabeth rose, the fact that she was tired showing in that the move was very human and not the otherworldly grace she normally had. "That sounds like a wonderful idea."

She moved in the direction that Khemrys had earlier to get water, though a little slowly. "I think that would be fun. Though it will most likely be a lot different than this world. Though we could even go see Jason at work." That twinkle in her eyes is betting on the fact that Jason hasn't told Khemrys what it was that he did.

As a favor to both of them Khemrys led the way slowly. Let teh light fade, dinner wasn't going to burn and they'd certainly earned the right to be sore. She saved further conversation until she was at the stream side, which ended up being deeper that it looked.

"My lords profession?" she asked curiously, unbraiding the travel worn hair and slowly combing it out.

Elizabeth had brought her own brush with, so she sat and brushed her hair out. She'd just had it in a ponytail, which she thinks now was a mistake. Maybe she'd braid it before she turned in for the night.

"You didn't know that Jason worked back home?"

"I had assumed he did" she admitted. "A lords man of some sort...but it had not accure dto me to ask for details" Seeing as how her own hair wasn't nearly so tangled, she scooted over and started brushing out some of the snarls for Elizabeth when she finished.

"Everyone needs must do summat"

For which Elizabeth is ever so grateful. "Thanks." Definitely a braid for tomorrow's travels.

"He's in the entertainment business. Though he might want to explain the details himself." Jason might be a little more tactful than Elizabeth in explaining that he's a stripper.

"I can help you braid it tightly, once your hair dries" she offered, something she's good at is hair, living in an Abbey full of women tends to breed such skills. Then she stifled a yelp as she stripped quickly and slid into the stream. Early spring still had melt water running in the streams!

So it was that her next words were chattered through her teeth "Entertainment?" she mused. "I will have to ask him..."

"That would be such a help." Elizabeth stripped and slid into the stream a little more slowly at the sound from Khemrys. Easing into the cold wasn't too bad. "If you wouldn't mind that is."

She gives a small nod. "It's a fairly interesting job. And like I said, we can make arrangements for you to come visit and we can always visit him at work."

"I don't mind at all...I rather enjoy it actually" she admitted. It was relaxing to brush and braid hair, one of the smaller things she missed upon leaving the abbey. A quick dunking and equally hasty scrubbing, and she was starting to think longingly of that fire...

"I think I would fair enjoy that..." she admitted "Though honestly I feel I make a poor showing beside the pair of you, dull as I am..."

Elizabeth took a more relaxing speed for washing. Though, between the higher body temperature and the numbness that had started sinking in from traveling the water didn't bother her all that much. "Wonderful."

"You are not dull Khemrys. Merely different. Not everyone in my Pard and Jason's Pack are like us. Some are quiet, some are obnoxious." She's thinking Caleb there which were Jason here, he might agree with. "Everyone is different, sometimes just because of personality, sometimes because of where they grow up, but it's the difference that makes you who you are."
